Nutritional Viewpoint
The proper nutrition (chemical aspect) for your body is just as critical as having a body that is physically functioning at its optimum. No longer are we able to eat foods that have all the quality nutrients that we think they have. Whole food is becoming quite a new concept for some patients. For others who have been shopping for whole food, they are only able to obtain 50% to 75% of their diet as whole foods. It is impossible to consume all whole foods and to think that we are getting all the nutrients that our bodies need. Research has especially shown that for those with autoimmune diseases, post-partum mineral deficiencies, and neuromusculaoskelatal conditions, conditions are made worse simply due to chemical deficiencies. For those interested in learning more about this subject, see our in-depth discussion on whole food supplementation as well as our list of whole food resources.
For patients with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, addressing the chemical aspect of those conditions will reduce symptoms by 60% to 75%. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies coupled with poor nutrition can wreak havoc on patients trying to achieve a symptom-free, healthy lifestyle. Processed foods and some complex carbohydrates tend to create a cascade of inflammation in the human body. Added to this cascade, patients are not receiving enough essential fatty acids (Omega-3) in their diets, which would help to decrease inflammation in the body. Patients changing their dietary lifestyle and adding whole food supplements to get the body back into chemical balance will typically see significant changes in the first two weeks of treatment.
Addressing the Chemical Aspect
Symptom Survey (Chiropractic Intake Form)
This survey has been used by physicians for over 20 years and is based on clinical trials and extensive blood work. By simply filling out this survey, we are able to determine an excellent baseline on where you may be chemically deficient. (For example: endocrine system, cardiovascular system, etc)
Nutritional Response Testing®
Nutritional Response Testing® (NRT) is a precise and scientific means to determine the best possible mix of whole food supplementation required to ensure an optimal health balance.
Feel free to review this summary of the testing to learn more about the methodology.
Heart Rate Variability Testing
As part of our nutritional services, we are adding the Heart Rate Variability (HRV) to give an objective measurement of one's overall health baseline, specifically nutritional and physical.
The Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is a unique tool for measuring, monitoring, and improving fitness for patients. It is an ideal tool for wellness assessment and improvement. It is used by wellness practitioners to optimize patients' nutrition, energy, vitality, and general physical and emotional well-being.
The main value of using the HRV test is not in one-time assessment, but in being able to determine and consistently monitor the changes in one's well-being over time, as well as determine the nature of one's body responses to various stimuli. The HRV automatically defines a human body's functional state (the ability to perform habitual functions) by orthostatic test results. The main components that determine the functional state are: heredity, degree of physical fitness, and destabilizing factors at the time of the test. These factors can include any of the following: illness, emotional or physical stressors.
If you are interested in learning more about this service, please see peer-reviewed research on Heart Rate Variability testing.
Tissue Mineral Analysis
This test measures the mineral content of your hair. Mineral content of the hair reflects the mineral content of the body's tissues. If a mineral deficiency or excess is found in the hair, it generally indicates a corresponding deficiency or excess in the body, or a biounavailability. Various mineral imbalances, as revealed by hair analysis, frequently lead to diagnosis of metabolic dysfunctions before any symptoms are manifested. Other conditions which may result from or be aggravated by a mineral imbalance are: depression, hypoglycemia, hyperactivity, headaches, hypertension, and arthritis.
See our detailed page on tissue and mineral analysis to learn more about the need for this important test.

Purification
Why Should You Consider Purification
Purification is a term meaning "to purify or cleanse the body." Often we ask patients if they change the oil filter in their cars to make the car run at it's best, why would they not do the same for their own bodies?!
Your body collects 'junk.' This junk comes from the food you eat, the water you drink, and even the air you breathe. It includes pesticides, heavy metals, chemicals, caffeine, pollution, preservatives, and more. Also, our bodies' biological processes create waste products such as ammonia and carbon dioxide. These and other poisons are created by the inner workings of each and every microscopic cell in your body.
The liver, often referred to as the "master organ," the lymphatic system, kidneys, lungs, intestines, blood and skin all play a part in filtering these toxins from your body. When overloaded, your body becomes inefficient. Just like the filter in your home's furnace, your body has filters that collect toxins.
If these toxins are not eliminated, your well-being is compromised. If you have experienced weight gain, fatigue or tiredness, poor digestion, difficulty in sleeping, food cravings, mental fog, moodiness, or a low libido, then you could benefit from a purification program.
What Is Purification not?
Purification is not a fad diet. The #1 goal of purification is to help your body purify and rebuild itself naturally, from the inside out. It also helps to provide support to all of your organ systems that play a part in the daily natural purification process within your body.
Do I Need To Purify?
This is not a question with a simple answer, Please take the Toxic Exposure Questionnaire, which is an initial starting point to considering a purification program.

Weston A. Price Foundation®, Ashburn Chapter
The Weston A. Price Foundation® was founded to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston Price, whose studies of isolated non-industrialized peoples established the parameters of human health and determined the optimum characteristics of human diets. Dr. Price's research demonstrated that humans achieve perfect physical form and perfect health generation after generation only when they consume nutrient-dense whole foods and the vital fat-soluble activators found exclusively in animal fats.Chapter News
