Care & Treatment

BAC treatment blend diagramBack In Action Chiropractic (BAC) blends Chiropractic, Active Release Technique® (ART), and Rehabilitation to effectively help you perform optimally. These three techniques complement each other to give the patient a complete healing experience. Here is how it works: If you have a dysfunctional joint, it causes a decrease in the activity of the muscles surrounding that joint, which in turn causes scar tissue of that structure which renders that area of the body unstable. Chiropractic treats the dysfunctional joint while ART treats the scar tissue. Rehabilitation is then needed to stabilize the body to function optimally. One is not as effective without the others. Please see the diagram to the right for an overview of this concept.

Using the knowledge of bio-mechanics of the spine and extremities, BAC incorporates balance, stability, and activity/sport specific training to accomplish our purpose

We strive to help you do the activities better than you were able to do before the start of treatment.

Chiropractic Care

Our method of adjustment is not based on typical chiropractic philosophy, which is centered around the "bone out of place" or "subluxation" principle. Instead, our adjusting is based on the neurological principles which define the spine as one synchronizing unit, controlled by the brain and spinal cord. If tension from physical, biochemical, and/or emotional inputs that have been placed on the spinal cord can be released, then the spine can be adjusted in relationship to this spinal cord tension. In turn, the entire spine - to include the bones and muscles - can be relaxed and begin to work as one harmonious unit. This method of adjusting allows the body as a structure to be at ease.

Ultimately, BAC strives to remove barriers that force you to compromise your health and quality of life both by means of chiropractic adjustments and proven soft tissue methods of the Active Release Technique®.

Active Release Technique®

ART is a proven soft tissue management protocol to reduce and eliminate scar tissue due to one of three mechanisms: constant pressure or tension, receptive stress, or a tear or crush to a specific area in the human body.

Rehabilitation and Exercise Training

BAC does not provide rehabilitation services on site. We do have several partners to whom we refer patients for individualized programs from professional personal trainers. If you have specific trainer requirements, and have questions regarding a recommended trainer, please call our office.

Dr. Susan has extensive experience in Rehabilitation and Physical Training, and applies this background to her chiropractic care.
